VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy

Introduction:
The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in sports massage therapy has been designed to provide learners with the requisite knowledge, understanding & skills to work in an unsupervised capacity as a sports massage practitioner, with non-pathological (non-injured) tissue.
In this qualification learners will develop their knowledge & understanding of the theory underpinning the practice of sports massage therapy, including functional anatomy, nutrition, classification of sports injuries & the stages of healing. It will also provide learners with the understanding, skills & techniques to plan, prepare for & apply a range of sports massage methods to uninjured clients. Learners will also develop skills to evaluate massage strategies & methods to inform on future practice.
This qualification has been mapped to the National Occupational Standards (NOS) & is endorsed by the Sports Massage Association (SMA)
Upon successful completion of this course, graduates will be able to seek work in private practice, sports clubs, health spas, GP practices & specialist clinics such as osteopathic & physiotherapy.
Pre-requisite Entry requirements:
Candidates aged 16+ are eligible for assessment.
Candidates must be in possession of one of the following:
- A VTCT Level 2 qualification or higher in any health &/or fitness discipline
- A VTCT level 2 qualification or higher that includes a reasonable amount of anatomy & physiology, or equivalent qualification
- Other equivalent qualifications to those identified. These must be approved.
Candidates must also be in possession of a Health & Safety Executive (HSE) recognised First Aid at Work Certificate at the time of certification. A first aid certificate can be undertaken parallel to the course & is available through Healing Hands school of Natural Therapies
Course content:
UV30378 – Functional anatomy. physiology & nutrition for sports therapies
UV30379 – Applying sports massage methods to non-pathological tissue
Areas of study:
- Relevant anatomy, physiology & nutrition for sports therapies
- Underpinning principles of sports injuries
- Principles of nutrition in relation to sports injuries
- Working within agreed standards of practice
- Preparation for sports massage methods
- Assessing the client
- Devise sports massage strategies for clients
- Application of sports massage methods
- Evaluate the effectiveness of sports massage methods
- Production, maintenance & storage of client records
Students are required to complete case study treatments in addition to theory tasks, practical & theory assessments.

Course cost:
The complete cost of the course is £550.00 plus £70.00 Assessment Fees
This includes full private tuition, certification fees & all working materials for use whilst at Healing Hands, School of Natural Therapies.
A non-refundable deposit of £300.00 is required to secure your place.
An additional lifetime registration fee of £16.00 will be required for students not previously registered with VTCT
An additional £15.00 will be required for registration with the SMA
Course Certification & Insurance:
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive the VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy.
You will be able to apply for full Professional & Public Indemnity Insurance to enable you to start working in Professional Practice straight away.
Successful Candidates will also receive the Healing Hands, School of Natural Therapies Diploma in Clinical Sports Massage.
